How We Serve
Community Programming
Oak and Cedar’s programming is based 100% in the community. While in the community participant’s may have the opportunity to engage in more structured activities based on their goals, needs, and wants listed in their Individual Service Plans (ISP). Examples of these activities may include taking Yoga or Gym classes, making a purchase in a store, or learning how to utilize public transportation. For participants with higher behavioral needs, more structured, routine based days may be designed. Oak and Cedar does not provide support with health care.
Areas of Training and Support
Oak and Cedar will utilize individualized trainings and behavior intervention strategies to help participants work on goals that are meaningful and yield growth and skill acquisition in areas of independent living, social interactions, and Community Inclusion.
Support will be provided in the following domains:
Communication
Use of Verbal or Non-Verbal communication
Socialization
Respecting Personal Space; Engaging in group activities; Understanding Social Cues
Community Inclusion
Participating in community activities; Pre-employment training
Building Independence
Fostering Social Connections, and promoting Self-Advocacy
Health and Safety
Behavior Interventions for behavior excess and deficits
Self-Advocacy
Understanding your rights and that you have the option to make choices about your life
